When was the Ministry of Culture created?
The Kingdom’s first dedicated Ministry of Culture was created by royal order in June 2018.
Why was the Ministry created?
The establishment of a dedicated ministry for culture is in alignment with the Vision 2030 objective to preserve and promote Saudi culture. The aim of the Ministry of Culture is to provide leadership in the cultural sector and enrich the lives of the people of Saudi Arabia.
Who is leading the Ministry of Culture?
The Ministry is led by the Kingdom’s first dedicated Minister of Culture, His Highness Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Farhan Al Saud.
There are many entities currently promoting cultural events. How is the Ministry of Culture different?
The Ministry of Culture will work with different entities within the cultural ecosystem. The Ministry’s role is to promote culture across the Kingdom.

What are the vision and mission of the Ministry of Culture?
The vision and mission of the Ministry of Culture were announced on March 27, 2019, and outline the main goals that the Ministry seeks to achieve. They are: culture as a way of life, culture for economic growth and culture for international exchange.
What was the framework for defining culture?
We have used the UNESCO definition of culture, which is:"[Culture] is that complex whole which includes knowledge, beliefs, arts, morals, laws, customs, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by [a human] as a member of society."
Is the Ministry of Culture the main organizer of cultural events?
The vast majority of events will continue to be organized by other entities within the cultural sector. However, the Ministry will organize some flagship events.
